It's been a busy day for Epic Games since they announced they bought Psyonix. An official announcement released yesterday on the official Rocket League website told the public that the studio that created the game is now part of the Epic Games family.
Epic Games buys Psyonix
That could have been a surprise, but not a real problem, at least until the release of Epic Games' press release. In it you could read the following:
"The PC version of rocket league will be available on the Epic Games store in late 2019. In the meantime, it will continue to be available on Steam; After that, it will continue to be supported for all existing buyers on Steam."
You could say that "in the meantime" wasn't exactly the best word choice to announce this, because immediately after the release, many players assumed that Rocket League would eventually be removed from Steam. You can imagine the following reaction from anyone who owns the game on the Valve platform, especially when you look at all the drama that happened when Metro Exodus left Steam to become an exclusive Epic Games store. This situation ended with many explanations in various media, starting with a tweet from the Psyonix studio on the official Twitter account of the Rocket League, in which they make it clear that the game will continue to be available on Steam.
Hi all! We wanted to clarify something for you after today’s news: Rocket League is and remains available on Steam. Anyone who owns Rocket League through Steam can still play it and can look forward to continued support. Thanks!

Epic Games also later confirmed that Rocket League will continue to be sold on Steam and long-term plans for the game will be announced in the future. This does not allow the possibility that the game will be moved to the Epic Games Store at a later date, given the "sneak war" that both companies are currently involved in, but we are pretty sure that they will intend to use the large player base of the popular motor football game in order not to lose them. Only time will tell what the future of Rocket League is, but we think you should just play it and not worry too much.
